Life Skills Education

Waylight Center’s life skills educational seminars will be given to provide life skills to participants, covering topics relevant to our listeners.  Some examples of our workshops include “Creating a Budget,” “First-time Home Buyer Seminar,” “How to Create a Resume and Apply for a Job,” “Basic Automotive Maintenance,” “Home Economics,” etc. The life skills education program will assist the underserved within the community with the tools and resources to succeed.

The Life Skills workshops will be conducted by volunteers licensed and/or experienced in the various workshop topics.  For example, the First-time Homebuyers Workshop would include training by a licensed real estate agent, a mortgage broker, a certified home inspector, a certified appraiser, etc.  The workshop would include the homebuying process, any programs available for financial assistance, the credit score you need to qualify for a mortgage, how to make a budget, how to determine what home you can afford, what to expect when buying a home, the terminology used in the home buying process (for instance, what is escrow, earnest money, inspection contingency, etc.)

These educational opportunities would be given at low to no cost to our participants and would be conducted at various times throughout the year.
